A message from:
Her Exalted Highness Duchess Helwen the Nimble of Bumpstead under Carpet

Here is hoping everyone finds peace in their lives, happy times with loved ones, and the best possible health in the new year!

***

We've already had Christmas at the farm last week. Tomorrow we're taking some friends to the Cloisters (decorated with medieval garlands of greens, fruits, and nuts), and to the Met. Last year we organized a huge trip to the Met, and while it was a lot of fun it was also kind of a big headache for me. This year I wanted a more mellow visit, so I was selfish and only arranged for whoever could fit into one vehicle. Next year maybe I'll look at some dates, propose whatever looks good, and if people all meet up at the museum, great. Caravanning is hard to do when everyone wants to drive at different speeds. We prefer not to drive more than 5-10 miles over the limit, thanks (and preferably not more than 5). Others prefer 15-20.... not only do we not care for it, but neither does our vehicle's engine, and the mpg's not so good either. So, a nice half dozen tomorrow :)

Christmas Eve we'll be at a friend's house in the evening, and the next morning is just us two. I love my friends and family, but for all that [personal profile] fitzw and I are often in the house at the same time, usually we're doing our separate things. So it's nice to have a little quiet time. In the afternoon/evening, it's off for Chinese and a movie with friends. Tuesday I work off and on during the morning and afternoon, as does [personal profile] fitzw - altho' he'll probably be taking time off to pick up Z (meeting days/times to be finalized sometime today). And as of today, it now looks like I won't be working next Wednesday and Thursday, but with Z here I'll be doing other things, so still only going to the demo at the Quadrangle on Friday.

Meantime, still have to wrap a couple of gifts for the party on [EDIT: Sunday], and of course have sent almost none of my cards out. Ah well. Got the parental units and a couple of others out. More to follow.

I'm sorry that I won't be able to meet up with you at the Cloisters! I would have loved to come, since I haven't yet been there, but it's a good 5 hour drive from here and I can't borrow Mom's caravan *all* day...
Enjoy it, say hi to everyone for me, and maybe someday I'll be in the Bergental vicinity once more!
Merry Christmas, too :)

Bummer! But that's an awfully long drive. sigh. I don't suppose western Mass is any closer? But you'd still be borrowing the minivan for the day...

Hope you're feeling better today!

Western Mass is unfortunately closer to 6 from here. Maybe I should go visit Alianor instead! She's only 3.5 hours away :)

We'll be there in the morning, since the Cloisters closes before the Met. We usually spend around 3-5 hours at the Met (open 'til after 9pm), hence the order. Depending on how long it takes for us to get there, we should get to the Cloisters around 10am, wander around for a couple of hours, then onward. We'll probably be ships passing in the night, as it were, unless you decide to come early to enjoy the decorations. Enjoy the concert!
