Misc. Stuff and Spirit Animal Meme

Been doing a bit more boxing of things the past few days, alternating with laying down because of neck/shoulder issues. Today the weather is finally decent and was absolutely wondering this morning -- did some work in the garden, hung up laundry, picked some of the Liberty apples, etc. It's early for apple picking, but thinning them out a bit means the rest will be bigger, and gives the apple tree a bit of a break from the weight of all those apples. They're sharpish, but I think they'll make a nice apple pie.

Made the hard decision to stay home from the Pennsic War. Not the happiest of things, especially since as baron and baroness of Bergental we try to be there for our folks as much as possible, and I do feel badly about that. But the car expenses were the last straw in a year of expenses (those who've been reading my LJ since last fall may remember all the visits, tests, and meds, mostly for our cat Roselynde, but a few for Peredur Mawr as well). Ostensibly we could still have gone and used the credit card to cover any shortfalls, but we've done that in the past and it takes a while to pay that back. Since we're actually trying to pay down the card and the equity line, and not continue to be in debt, that wouldn't have been a wise decision. Plus, we really need to be at Pennsic next year, when Bergental is hosting the Runnymede Dinner (East Kingdom interbaronial dinner). I'd like to be in a more comfortable situation before then.

Meantime, things are a bit surreal, since even though we aren't going, I still have sewing to do for Pennsic! Our fighting tabards, which we started updating last year, still need the seams finished -- 5 are complete. Plus I need to iron the edges on two of them and some of the favors too.

You aren't going to Pennsic, and you still have pre-Pennsic sewing to do? Talk about the worst of both worlds....

I think it's one of those baroness things... and most of the folks who are going either have other things to do like make clothing, or can't sew. Still.... it's a little weird.

And for more fun, L will still be taking some time off, but we'll be using that time to work on the house.
