Interesting dreams. Didn't get to finish one before the next, but I think I'm supposed to look more into dowsing and seeking direction this week, in more ways than one.
Watered most of the plants today, mostly using the sprayer and hose, except for the arbor vitae, which are too short for me to see across the Russian sage -- the r.s. has grown quite a bit this month, much of it at or above my height now -- and the arbor vitae are still wee things. It's been dry enough that I was down to trickle watering for a couple of them, as the soil wasn't absorbing very quickly there. I'll have to add them to my weekly watering schedule. We've only had them since two springs ago - got them to add to the medieval garden entrance for Brion and
peacockduchess' Coronation - so they're still getting used to being here. Once established they're pretty hardy, so I think if we can get them through another summer and winter, they'll be okay.
I don't like using the hose, but when I need to water the entire front garden, it's a bit much to use the watering can. So, more waste, but more of me left at the end of the exercise for the rest of the day. And it's better than using the sprinkler. The only time we use that is when it's been really dry and we think the sugar maple could use an extra drink. The lawn benefits as well, of course, and the Japanese maple doesn't mind either :) This happens maybe 2-3 times during the summer, if it's a really dry summer. If it doesn't rain a lot in the next week, we may water the tree the week after. June as seen a fair amount of rain, but because the water table is still a bit low, the soil doesn't seem to be retaining moisture as well as it should.
fitzw's on the piano right now :) He hasn't been on the piano a lot recently, but he has been playing more in general this year, and getting into more complex pieces of music. He's sounding good this morning.
After breakfast, we take off for the fleamarket, bbq, and visiting friends :)
mmm, oatmeal...... w/cinnamon, sliced almonds, and soymilk...mmmmm

Piano
Date: 2007-06-30 02:49 pm (UTC)Why, thank you. I haven't been playing a lot because we've had furniture in front of the piano recently (during the renovations), and I thought I'd get a little playing in this morning while the tea was steeping, before I rearrange all of the furniture again.
