Little ways to save water
Jun. 27th, 2007 10:49 amOkay, this won't save huge amounts, but...
1. Assuming you use two dishpans for washing dishes, the water in the rinse pan can be saved to use for the next load of dishes. Or, if you're done with washing for a while, you can pour it into a pail (large container with lid).
2. Drain your pasta and veggies into the pail, too, not just down the drain as usual. Although in the case of the veggies, you might want to pour that off into a separate cup/bowl, and add it to the compost....
3. Save water from washing fruits, veggies & salad greens, too. I just use plain water myself, and if you do too, then you could also use this water for watering house or garden plants.
4. When pail is full, it can be used to flush the toilet. (flushing can be done by putting water in the tank, or in the bowl. If you pour into the bowl, you may need to pour a little more water in afterward, slowly, to refill to original level).
