We have a neighbor down the street who's a little.... odd. I don't know the details, and many of the neighbors don't speak to her because she's a bit... odd. She's also a gardener however, so from time to time we've had conversations about plants. One time was last month, and I was in the middle of trying to deal with the overabundance of lettuces and such. So, she became a recipient of several baby lettuce, although the transplants haven't done as well as the wild ones... still, she's a pretty good gardener, so I'm sure they'll have taken and be doing all right, just behind the ones I didn't move. I gave her one of my bunches of grape hyacinths too, for next spring....

Anyway, the other day she comes over with some strawberries and cuttings from her herb garden :) Her strawberry plants are mature, having been in the ground for a few years. (Ours are just starting to have a few berries; the first ones the birds ate, but we've managed to pick a few, some days after she brought hers over.) My self-seeded lettuce is doing a bit too well for two people, so I picked a bunch of leaves for her to take home. Unexpected treasures.

Had a big green salad last night, and today made some tuna salad sandwiches for lunch and threw in a couple of leaves (torn up first, of course - leaf lettuce isn't breakable like iceberg). The tuna's from before we started the 90%R thing.... still haven't decided if we'll get more or not this year, as it isn't like we eat tuna very often anyway. Just one of those things I grew up with, so I buy it... I tend to buy things in large quantities when I'm able, so I've been happily putting off some of my food decisions until later in the year.

Tonight I think will be pork stir fry, with the zuchini and yellow squash we got from the farmers market, and maybe water chestnuts. Hm. And some rice on the side maybe.
