Shoulder update. Went to the doctor this morning, and nothing definite was determined. He wants me to continue with the PT for another 3-6 weeks and see if there is further improvement (currently the arm is more mobile than before, but certain movements still cause pain).
In a way I'm happy, because it's good to have a doctor who isn't surgery-happy. But on the other hand, I was kind of hoping for something more... definite. Definitely frustrating, but not much to be done except continue with the PT and painkillers. Yay.
Unfortunately shoulders are not simple things, and the causes of problems aren't always easy to figure out. He wants to determine if the sole cause of the pain is the acromion hook or if the whole shoulder is unstable, which determines what happens next, I guess. Of course, according to one of my chiropractors, my spine is unstable -- it's just mostly noticeable on the right side of the body.
One of the reasons he wants to make sure to go through all the steps is that surgery has a 4-5 month recovery time. I suspect we may still end up taking that road eventually, so I need to think about better times to deal with it... later summer/fall would probably be the best in some ways. Half the harvest should be in by then, and I'd have enough woven goods done too.
So, I was a bit grumpy this morning when I came back. Fortunate for me that
fitzw is a patient and understanding sort. And I had ice cream for breakfast (Breyer's All Natural is on sale, 1.99 each at Stop&Shop), so mood is improving.
So, exercise, PT, and maybe there will finally be significant improvement in the next few weeks, who knows?
