Another busy day, and this weekend!
Mar. 29th, 2007 06:44 pmNo yoga yet today, but lots of going up and down stairs. We've been walking more than usual this week, plus my going up and down the stairs every day, sorting and re-organizing, so I got a little tired and wobbly-legged on the walk back to the house today; bit of a sugar drop, in fact. I hadn't thought my level of physical activity had increased that much, but apparently I need to make an adjustment to my diet to compensate -- a little grapefruit juice at the corner store solved the problem and I made it the rest of the way home with no problems. I don't like having only one option for regulating things, so I may start my dried fruits & nuts snacking up again -- part of how I got through massage therapy school.
No sorting of papers today, but did manage to find some things to finish filling a misc. things bin with (mostly papers & mementos that I still want), and stow that away in the attic proper (on the third floor there is the main part of the attic and there is a finished room at the front, where we keep many books and where Z stays when he's here).
Mostly I sorted through fabrics to determine what would stay most accessible over the next year or so. I did get rid of a few things, and there is a large piece of lace fabric I need to find a new home for -- white and gold. I lowered the amount of fabric on one shelf, cleared a second shelf, and the misc. things bin is under one of the cloth bins, plus the space in front of the attic window in the cloth section is clear for opening this summer. And I've stacked some of the boxes of fabric smack against an outside wall for more insulation.
It doesn't look like much as happened unless you saw what it looked like before... sigh
This is why, even though we probably won't be moving for at least a year, maybe two, I've started sorting and boxing now. We've lived here since 1996, plus a lot of things we brought with us or that have come down from storage at the farm (things from
fitzw's younger days). If we're to move in a sensible way, I have to whittle away the most obvious things first, so that there's space to see what's left.
For instance, you usually don't need financial records going back further than seven (7) years. Check book registers and bank statements from 1993 need not be kept, and are a delight to shred.
Also, the more free space we have, the easier it will be to clear a room when we're renovating.

We have new car insurance as of today. There was a small penalty for changing companies mid-year (old one went to August 1), but the savings is worth it.
The old prescription glasses were dropped off at the bank today.
The chili needs more chili powder - it actually tasted milder today than when it was fresh. I didn't expect that.
I've been putting the PC in hibernation mode whenever I get up to do something elsewhere in the house (it saves whatever you have open, then turns off. When you turn it on again it reloads all your stuff -- pretty quickly on this machine). Especially with running the dryer for the linen (and today some wool that needs fulling), I figured I better start shutting it off and keeping it off more often.
I've been reading a little bit of the Druidry Handbook - Part II, on the three triads. Just a little bit at a time, since I'm a little tired and I want to make sure I remember and understand what's on the page. I liked the story of the three rays of light and the giant, and all the things you can get out of the story. I read the next bit about the three circles, but I think I spend more time thinking about the three rays and giant part, because of the creativity/spirit/knowledge connections.
Tonight is more mending, finishing up some odds and ends projects, and more work on a scroll.

fitzw was going to go up to the farm today to help out with cutting down fir trees (old overgrown Christmas tree farm) and maybe delivering hay, but there was an emergency at work, so he had to reschedule to tomorrow afternoon. It's probably better this way, since we were going to go up Saturday as well -- now we'll go up right after my doctor appt. and stay overnight, instead of having to drive there and back twice. Plus the weather might be even better tomorrow (less windy).
Sunday is Concentus in the afternoon, as usual, and a call to my mother in the evening.
