Novice Schola went very well. Only one teacher was late, all others who were supposed to be there were, the substitute teachers and classes went well. We had a mind-boggling 147 people for the day! I think we had around 112- 125 last year? And for dinner, we had close to 90! It's not the largest hall, and we wanted to leave a space in the middle for dancing after dinner, so that was quite an accomplishment. I managed to sit in on parts of a few classes. Spent time chatting with various folks (one of the reasons for missing some classes, but the conversations were equally worthy). My class on feast ware seemed to go fairly well, although I did miss making a point on napkins. Ah well, next time. I think I may have a go at my hand-out, and add a few things to it. I was happy to note that some of the students were making notes on the handout on things of particular interest, and we had a bit of discussion and Q&A throughout the class, all of which was quite on-target, I'm happy to say. A good start, and I think I'll continue to work on gathering photos and such on the subject for futures classes.

Sunday a.m. [livejournal.com profile] fitzw and I went to [livejournal.com profile] beard5's home. He's moving and is divesting of many things, including a table and a pc that we were going there to pick up. We ended up with a second table (they are massive things, being 8' long w/ fold-up legs, and a 3" metal-reinforced wood skirt on them), the pc w/ keyboard & mouse, and many gardening tools! I'm excited about the tools especially because now we will have an easier time expanding the veggie garden, and we now have more tools for working with folks on getting their gardens going. No doubt these folks will also have to acquire tools, but it will still help give a leg up on the getting-started part of things. It's always nice to have company when doing hard work like breaking and turning a bed.

Concentus practice went supremely well! We were down one member unfortunately, but hopefully he'll be up for practice when we have it again (something we'll have to work on, as Pagan and I are supposed to be at the fitting sessions on 3/4 and 3/11). We made it through the Pucelete Motet successfully, twice! It's been one of our more challenging pieces, between the language and oddities of the music itself.

I was accepted for membership by AODA, so that has also taken quite a bit of time, as I've been reading articles, web sites, archived threads, etc. to catch up on what people are talking about. Rather like learning a new language -- which [livejournal.com profile] fitzw and I have also been doing a bit of... BBC has a Learn Welsh section of their web site, so we've been having a go at it again.

Yesterday was mostly spent online, catching up on everything from the weekend and some of last week, doing more reading, writing up some details in regard to this year's Novice Schola and what we should do for next year's schola. We did go shopping first thing in the morning though, as we were down to one can of cat food for the kitties, and out or low on a number of other things as well. And I did another load of laundry and took care of the plants, of course.

This morning was a bit of shoveling, seeing how the plants are doing, taking a break now and then to just watch the snow falling and feel the cool air on one's skin.
