Somewhat of an Update
Apr. 27th, 2021 10:32 amWas trying to be more regular here but it's just been a rough and stressful spring. Seems like the harder I try to be motivated, the less has happened, at least certain fronts. I want to get started on the web site - bought a domain and everything - but learning how to build the website was frustrating. I'll try again, just not right this minute.
Meanwhile, today I went to Florence and had allergy tests done; not too much new there, although I don't remember English Plantain being specifically listed last time. Also, I don't think they tested for all animals this time, just cats and dogs. When I had it done in college there were other animals listed like horses. I don't expect that's changed though.
So, dust & dust mites is #1, then trees & grass, mold & mildew, Ragweed and English Plantain, and then cats and dogs (dander and saliva).
I had them add sulfites to the list because I forgot that on the survey.
Billing will call us after they talk to our insurance provider, but am set up with the first of the visits. Should be mostly covered but it's good to be sure of things. The allergy injection program is a long-term commitment, starting with 30 weekly visits and then going to every 2 weeks I think, and then 3-4 weeks for maintenance, over a period of at least three years.
I'll have to go back to carrying my inhaler everywhere, just in case. Life will be a little more encumbered but in the long run I'll be able to reduce or eliminate medications and the increasing amount of skin issues I'm dealing with should improve. And who knows, my food issues might get better. My problems with some foods may be connected to the mold allergens (like rust and yeast in most bread), rather than the gluten. We'll see what happens :)
