Organizing, Sewing, Gardening, and...

helwenI've been poking away at the dining room area... it bleeds into the porch, basement, and other areas. Trying to make it a functional area while dealing with everything being crammed together is so much fun... not. But it's likely the family will be with us for another winter, given the pandemic making employment potentially less secure. Rent on their own would be more challenging than sharing space with us.
For that matter, it might be good for us to continue to receive rent for a little while longer... fingers crossed, so far things have been okay for L -- he just get a merit increase -- but you never know these days.
Still, functional space is a thing. I _think_ I'm making progress :D

I'm more than half way done hemming a dress -- well, what I have so far. It's one of those ones....ah, kind of like a hanky hem I guess. Anyway, the inside fabric is white and showing more than I'd like, so I may add a couple more points on the sides to run interference.
I've got more fabric coming in for mask-making -- just for us. I have some other fabric for a town library project, but I have to wait until the interfacing arrives.

Slow start to the day today -- sometimes what happens when you don't get enough sleep all week, I guess. Breakfast from Elmer's was delicious, of course -- plus we got to listen to lovely live music while we waited for our order (outside, natch).
Still managed to get things done -- nothing finished, which would have been nice, but progress nonetheless. Harvested some pole beans and tomatoes, did some weeding, cleared stuff out from between/in front of the the grey shed and the barn, moved stuff around on the old concrete pad, raked/cut/shoveled leaves and branches from off and around the pad, etc.
One of the sweet peppers is looking really good - I should pick that tomorrow.
Wouldn't have gotten nearly as much done with removal from the concrete pad area if Lyle hadn't kept trucking off with cart loads to the far tip <3 He looked at bat house plans, worked on pulling some materials together for that, made progress on repairing an old hardware cloth screen, got a little old bathtub from by the trailer to over near the greenhouse, and repaired a rubber bucket, among other things.
The chipmunk has denuded one of the Hazelnut trees - most of the nuts are still on the other one. We gathered some the storm had knocked down before coming in... I'll be gathering the rest tomorrow even though it's early for them. They'll just have to dry longer on the porch.

The internet was partially out this morning. Apparently it was something global. I haven't heard more about it yet, but that was a curious thing...
