So....we stopped at Ashfield Hardware on the way home this morning, to pick up a hose joiner and see if they had heavy duty 1" hose as well. They didn't, but Cummington Supply did, so the hardware store said they'd put in an order for a roll. We only needed part of the roll but they said they could sell the rest to other folks. It's a pretty short drive so we agreed to pick it up -- that way we could bring it home, measure out exactly how much we needed and drop off the rest at the store...the drive was uneventful but when we got there, we noticed a burning smell but couldn't see anything. Went into the store, and a few minutes later one of the guys says he sees smoke from the car. Sure enough, the front driver side tire area is smoking and you can see flames through the wheel.

Another guy grabbed an extinguisher from inside the store and put the fire out. Likely the breakpad.

Called AAA and the minivan has been towed to Firestone in Noho, and we got a ride home from one of store guys, Gus.

Pipe is installed, having a late lunch, then rest of the pipe will go to the store, either before or after L does a hay delivery.
