Well, I don't know how much the fabric I hung on the stairway wall will help keep the house warm, but it sure warmed me up getting it up there :P
The draft stopper for the door, OTOH, is working quite well!
The sleeping bags arrived today from Campmor.com -- amazing. They said it could take up to six days, but only took two.
We picked up an old pickle barrel through Freecycle today. It'll take a little work, but we should be able to set it up as a rain barrel.
Then we headed to Ingleside again today (too many trips this week!), because the new veggie steamer that
fitzw picked up at Target was missing a leg (they're quite small), so we needed to exchange it. As usual he parked further away from our objective so that we could get a little more exercise. While he was taking care of the exchange, I started looking for things for building first aid kits. He joined me in progress and we decided to pick up two already made-up kits, one for the car and one for one of the backpacks. I'll still make up the other kits and add a few things to the new ones -- I like the way things are stuck into clear 'pages', and he liked that there are first aid reference manuals with them. I'll start work on building the kits tomorrow, although it will a while before they're all completed. I need to get some small, secure containers so that I can put iodine with each kit.
It's my sincere hope that I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow. Our group has Needleworkers gathering tomorrow, but I need to stay home and try to get some work done over the next few days. Although a walk at the mall with
ellid and possibly
sorcieredeneige is planned for Saturday morning. Continuing to work on including daily bits of fitness into the schedule. I'm not much for walking in cold weather -- lungs don't like it -- so the mall will have to do for a little while.
The Yogi digestive aid tea (ginger, licorice root, lemongrass, etc.) seems to be helping with my knees. Yes, I know my knees aren't where the stomach and intestines are, but the licorice root is supposed to help with overall body 'congestion'. Since I haven't changed anything else since yesterday, I'm assuming the tea is helping. In fact, I didn't have any ibuprofen today, which is nice.

Date: 2007-01-19 01:10 am (UTC)I mounted the fabric to 1x2s, then I mounted the 1x2s to the wall. It was far easier to get it down when we moved, and the fabrics were still in good shape.
Of course, the neighbors thought we must be cereal killers when we put styrofoam in the windows to cut drafts...
