Past Few Days
Nov. 25th, 2012 09:38 amThanksgiving Day proper, we had a lazy day as regards when we got up, when the turkey went in, etc. My family always had dinner no earlier than 4:30, later if we didn't have a lot of guests (since dinner with guests invariably led to hours at the table chatting). Got quite a few chores done.

Friday we did some chores, dropped off ornaments for one of the local tree farms to sell (cancer research fundraiser), delivered eggs to Elmer's and also had breakfast there, and delivered eggs to the hardware store.
Oh, also delivered to Elmers: 5 gallons of syrup to the kitchen, 6 quarts and 3 pints of retail syrup, 6 each of 3 oz. and 6 oz. jars of maple-coated pecans, 20 pcs. maple fudge, 12 pcs. each of small and medium soft maple candies, 4 each of 1/2 lb. and 1 lb. jars of maple cream. Yeah, big holiday order :)
Last stop in Ashfield, we mailed a packet of letters from Ma (Christmas order letters to regular customers), went down to Greenfield to get feed for the chickens and a new light bulb for the Honda Civic, then on to Shelburne Falls to pick up prescriptions for Ma and some sudafed for me (no, haven't worked out an herbal regimen that covers everything...yet).
Moonlight Magic was that day, so we wandered around for a bit. Discovered where one book store had moved to, found out what some of the new businesses in town were, found a place to take a picture that needs framing (we don't have time for doing that ourselves right now), and enjoyed the candlelight. I bought two pretty fair trade bracelets and some pecans these two ladies (originally from the south) were selling -- they roast or dip them in various things -- I chose sugar-roasted and dipped in dark chocolate and also the curry variety, so one sweet and one savory.
We stayed for some of the live music, a band with stilt dancers, but it was pretty chilly so we took off and ended up having dinner at the Lake House in Ashfield, before heading home.

Saturday we practiced hand forms in the morning. Left shoulder is better but still can't raise my arm in a rising arc behind me without pain. May make kung fu interesting this afternoon (special workshop). I stayed out of kung fu classes this week so that I might be up to today's class, should be able to do some of it, and our sikung is visiting so I wanted to see him at least once before he travels on.
Eggs were all gone already -- well, we'd only been able to deliver 4 dozen to each store, and it's a holiday weekend so... still.
Breakfast at Elmer's again, then off to Stephen Earp's studio sale. We missed the seconds because of having breakfast -- people descended on the place first thing in the morning, leaving only one serving platter, which was tempting (slipwork!) but I don't really have a use for it, at least at the moment. Did pick up a few things, including a nice widemouth jar for Ma that should be complimentary to the one she bought from him a few years back.
Miscellaneous chores done, including packing a few boxes of stuff. Not as much as I should be doing, but making sure I do at least a box a day. Oh, and made a couple of loop potholders last night... hey the extra bag of loops fits inside one of the loom boxes now!
