The fabric is not really my "thing", but I love the shirt itself. Wouldn't it be wonderful, whether for everyday or for kung fu?

You could just make the tails shorter. It looks more fitted than their Chinese patterns.

The original blouse looks like it has more skirting to it, and wider sleeves, but that pattern would be pretty easy to adapt to achieve this look...
