Self-Stitched September

I only read about this today, and most of the clothing I've ever made isn't modernwear. But it still sounds interesting, and I've been meaning to do more with making clothing, so why not?

My pledge: I, helwen, sign up as a participant of Self-Stitched-Sept '11. I endeavour to wear one handmade item (clothing preferably, but possibly just an accessory) each day for the duration of September 2011.

And it being the first day of September, I guess I better go find something I've made to put on... hm... seeing as I'm already dressed, I think I'll start with a cat pendant I made in high school :D

I was actually wearing a shirt I made, yesterday, but I put it in the wash today. Also, I need to take it in a wee bit, but that won't be difficult.

Okay, gotta go play with buckwheat!

I didn't wear anything, but I ironed a lot of things I've made today, so I'm going to go with that for today. ;-)

I'd count it!

I'm working on making some stuff, but it's taking some time, of course. OTOH I also mend things and keep on wearing them, which I think ought to count too, since the basic original inspiration for her sewing was living a more sustainable life -- so I'll be going with some of that as well, I think.

you should see the things I bring home from the thrift store, take apart and restyle! Make or mend, I think both count!

I have a few of those thrift things -- there's one store in a nearby town that sometimes has silk or linen blouses. I usually can't stand the collars so I take them off and have "mandarin" collars." Especially handy since I also don't like making buttonholes, lol
