L and I missed it entirely. We were at the Greenfield Farmers Co-op taking advantage of their customer appreciation day (generally only happens once a year). Maybe it happened when we were getting the feed loaded? Hm...

Anyway, glad everyone's okay!

Next up is Hurricane Irene. Currently slated to make landfall in North Carolina, from what I've heard.

Likely all we'll get is rain, but best to check your food, water, and lighting supplies. Hm.... seems like a good reason to pick up some fresh fruit, if you haven't any of your own. I need to pick peaches tomorrow.

In a way, I am glad our old Coleman lantern broke when we unpacked it at Pennsic. The replacement is smaller, and much, much brighter (LED).

We also have two of those Ott-lite pocket-sized lights, which work great for scribing, but can blind you if you look into one. They go for about $20 apiece at JoAnn's.

We have a mix of candles, oil lamps, and LEDs. Hadn't realized Ott-lite now made portable lights, thx. They are pretty blinding :D

Probably when the feed was loading, yep. *g* One of the smaller quakes we went through in Seattle passed for the neighbors rearranging their furniture until we saw the news.

Glad there was no damage, etc, out your way.

Thanks. Glad nothing major at your place either. Now we're waiting for Irene, but so far looks like mostly we'll get rain.

Have you checked lately? Cause right now she's expected to hug the coast, with hurricane force winds extending out about 80-90 miles from the eyewall and tropical storm force winds extending out about 290 miles from the eyewall. Weather Underground is expecting the net effect to go pretty far inland.

Yeah, it's getting pretty weird. First it was going to go to one side of us then the other... Hard to say what'll happen. Things are getting put under cover, of course. Still have to clear the porch tomorrow, but that won't take long.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!
