Just got a phone call from Mike Huckabee (sp?) group -- they're putting together a petition to send to Boehner calling for de-funding the U.N. so we can cut them off and watch them "drift out to sea" to some other country....

I stayed on long enough to ask them to remove us from their call list, thenkyouverrymuch.

U.N. has its problems, but personally I think they should keep "getting into the U.S.'s way". We don't frickin' own the world.

This anti-UN stuff is part of what got us into the war in Iraq, I think. The claims that Iraq had nuclear materials was one of the Bush administration's big persuasion points, but the UN inspectors had been going out every day for two years before that time, and hadn't found any evidence. A lot of people in the government at that time would have done anything to disassociate themselves from the UN, and they really did it with the war declaration.
