Small Revelation
May. 4th, 2011 05:35 pmPut on the corset again briefly, to take a couple of measurements, but I tightened it up a bit more than yesterday -- getting better and tying behind my back, I guess. And _that_ is something I won't be doing again any time soon. While it was on I only felt a little pressure in the general piriformis area, so I loosened the lower part of the corset. Good thing too -- I think that's what caused a lot of pain in my hips yesterday/today, was wearing it for about half an hour. Doesn't account for the rest of the aches, which are still illness-related, but good to know before making the cuirass bodice.
And on that project, have started cutting out mockup!

Date: 2011-05-04 09:51 pm (UTC)Start by pulling in at the waist, cross over the loops and pull at the waist only towards the front. Kinda like you are holding a hoola hoop ready to let it go. It will tighten as your body gets used to the idea, and you may need to tighten it over the day. It's one of the reasons why these corsets are often made with a gap at the centre back.
Be careful to not tighten too much over boney areas as they will really hurt after a while. My tough points are my lower ribs in this type of corset as I have no space between ribs and hip bones (extremely short waisted)

Date: 2011-05-04 09:57 pm (UTC)Um, do you know if the cuirass bodice is what we would modernly think of as a blouse, or is it a jacket and I need to make a blouse to go under it?
Thanks so much for your advice!
