New Tent! And, a little Flower Pr0n

The tent went up pretty quickly and easily. And it definitely weighs less than the oval marquee, which will be better for our mileage. We might even do some camping in it closer to home, who knows?
Oh, and we got the tent, per
embermwe's recommendation, from Blockade Runner (tent page). They also have lots of other cool stuff there.

I also took pics of the hops that are coming up, but they don't photograph well at this point. Still, I'm happy that the one rhizome survivor (Golden Nugget) made it through the winter, and a bunch of the seedlings (something English). Later this summer we'll have to see if the ones from seed are boys or girls. Sorry guys, but I only want the girls in this case.

Date: 2009-04-19 07:41 pm (UTC)I just picked up some hop rhizomes from a friend who was thinning his. If they do well, I'll separate some off for you next year -- assuming you want more!

Date: 2009-04-19 09:11 pm (UTC)Nugget is a fairly prolific yielder. I'm past 'the window' for planting this year, methinks, but my LHBS still has rhizomes in stock, so I might grab a couple and stick 'em in the ground.

Date: 2009-04-19 09:49 pm (UTC)My seedling guys are too close together though, so I'm going to have to move some of them, sigh. Actually, I'm almost hoping some are males, because there's 12 or 13 of them...

Date: 2009-04-20 11:17 am (UTC)You'll have to thin them eventually, regardless of gender. This is why we start from rhizomes instead of seeds if we want to actually harvest. ;-)

Date: 2009-04-20 06:56 pm (UTC)I also planted seeds, and got 13 to come up, and a couple of them formed vines of a few feet long. So I'm hopeful that this year they'll get bigger.
I expect to be able to harvest from the single rhizome this year.
The younglings I'll give more space to this year and then probably next year we'll get something from them, harvest-wise. This year I'm just hoping to separate them gender-wise.

Date: 2009-04-19 10:55 pm (UTC)cheap enough, I couldn't resist it.
It was fabulously comfy at Pennsic last year,
and simple to set up with 2 folks. I think I will
be getting a tarp front porch for ours this year.
We will likely be doing our planting next weekend.

Date: 2009-04-20 07:07 pm (UTC)I mean to keep an eye out for things to take pics of this year. We can all use something nice in our lives these days, yes?
