If for some reason, some emergency required you to leave your house/apartment immediately, where would you go?

It depends on the emergency. If I could, I'd either go west to my mom's or my aunt's or even my in-law's, or north to my sister's. If we had to, we could flee to Canada.

If we just had to leave the neighborhood, though, we'd probably go to a household member's house, also west or north.

Short-term local, a library.
Longer term local, my folks.

Short term non-local, west to friends.
Long term non-local, a hotel.
Very Long term non-local, north to other friends.

Good to have options :)

I might have to work on this one! All set for local I think, but very-long-term non-local I might be living in a tent :D

Tenting longer term can be fun with friends and fuel sources.

Have you got the Tom Brown books?

We have some other books, similar. I think I want to figure things out a few bits at a time. But we'll be trying some stuff out.

I might even *shudder* sleep outdoors without a tent. Haven't done that since high school. That was on a beach, which was nice actually, if a little lumpy.

It could be fun! Building a nice little brush shelter, knowing you *could*, takes a lot of gumption, and is very satisfying.

I could build a shelter. Not hard, especially not here. Grapevines and firs anyone?

Firestarting will be one of the skills I'll be trying out this year. But we'll start trying that here, not in the woods.

It so depends on the nature of the emergency.

It could be as close as "two doors down the street", or as far as "head for the hills". I have potential family sites in PA, NJ, NY, ME, and NC, along with friends in MA that would all be within an eight hour drive, if I had to go far from here.

Probably to the local police station to find out what the hell was going on. If I had *live* somewhere, probably Tracy's.

Robyn's house, right up the street, or, when her house is out too, like during the ice storm, my brother's house in Stow.

Yeah, the ice storm knocked out power at everybody's place (of people we know up here). It was manageable, but depending on the reason we could go to quite a few places either near town or down the hill. We did cheat and go down the hill for a shower, once the road was mostly cleared.
