It depends on the emergency. If I could, I'd either go west to my mom's or my aunt's or even my in-law's, or north to my sister's. If we had to, we could flee to Canada.
If we just had to leave the neighborhood, though, we'd probably go to a household member's house, also west or north.
We have some other books, similar. I think I want to figure things out a few bits at a time. But we'll be trying some stuff out.
I might even *shudder* sleep outdoors without a tent. Haven't done that since high school. That was on a beach, which was nice actually, if a little lumpy.
It could be as close as "two doors down the street", or as far as "head for the hills". I have potential family sites in PA, NJ, NY, ME, and NC, along with friends in MA that would all be within an eight hour drive, if I had to go far from here.
Yeah, the ice storm knocked out power at everybody's place (of people we know up here). It was manageable, but depending on the reason we could go to quite a few places either near town or down the hill. We did cheat and go down the hill for a shower, once the road was mostly cleared.
