New Tent Ordered and...

We decided to get a new tent for SCA camping. We wanted something large enough for Pennsic, but that took less space in the car than the oval marquee, and figured a wall tent was the way to go.
embermwe recommended Blockade Runner (Am. Civil War site), where she and Shawbane got theirs last year, and this morning we decided this was the best bet.
Blockade Runner Tents
I ordered the large one 10' x12' x 7'4", w/ 4' side walls. Also, the poles, stakes, etc., and the sod cloths. The floor tarp we can manage on our own.

Yesterday I finally got into the summer SCA clothes trunks. Making more Roman or Greek or something, and probably another bog shirt or two, and wanted to use existing stuff as models. Yes, I realize they're just squares and rectangles, but I want the new ones to be the same size!
***
Some things got tossed. More today.

Walking happened yesterday. We went up Barnes, past the barn for the golf course onto the dirt part of the road a little ways. More geese are here now. L pointed out some yellow flowers by the side of the road... uh, they're a type of buttercup but they grow in marshy places.
More walking may happen today.

Peredur Mawr had his annual checkup and then some, on Tuesday. He is fine, but it has been determined that he should weigh less, and the culprit may be the dry food -- apparently a lot of dry foods have too many carbohydrates in them, and cats can get addicted to carbs. Also, there is this stuff called Biotene that comes in various forms, and is useful in getting rid of and keeping away tartar and plaque on cat teeth. Like brushing teeth, only safer.

Date: 2009-04-10 03:26 pm (UTC)setup kit too. I suspect that this year I
will get a fly to go with it too if the
budget allows. They say it makes it even MORE
weatherproof, which was REALLY not an issue
for us. It can make it cooler inside set up
over it, on the serengheti, or give you more
outside-ish living space if you set it up as
a porch.
We love ours.
If PeredurMawr is having dental issues, I
also heartily recommend THIS as it worked wonders for
the awful gingivitis suffered by my dear old
persian Snuggs, and was MUCH easier than
trying to get him to let us brush his teeth.
It may be similar to the biotene...

Date: 2009-04-10 03:54 pm (UTC)The biotene comes in different forms. Peredur's got build up only at this point. Gums are still doing well. The form of biotene we got goes in his drinking water and will help to gently remove stuff.
If after a few months we don't see noticeable improvement, we'll go for the gel you smear on the teeth directly.
He's 12, so apparently it's the "right" time for this kind of thing to be happening. One of the reasons we had dry food for him was we thought it would help with keeping the teeth clean, but apparently the pieces need to be larger than cat food usually is. There's one type of treat that helps, called TD, which seems to help. But we decided to try one thing at a time, so we know what works. All keep your link in mind though, thanks!
