Some pretty pictures of a Tree of Gondor sweater, with Tengwar on the back (or Tengwar letters anyway. Don't know them enough anymore to tell if she wrote in English or Sindarin):

LotR Sweater

She posted notes on what she used and did, including links to some patterns, which may or may not be useful.

Cloverleaf Farms is where I got that yummy autumn colors merino roving from. I discovered the URL was on the tag for the roving (it got separated from the wool for a while), and thought I'd share.

The particular roving I was working with is called Redwoods. You'll find it under the category Hand Dyed Fibers.

But there are lots of other pretty colors and fibers at their site as well.

Enjoy!

OK, I hurt myself looking at Cloverleaf Farms. *g* I know where my allowance is going once I've gotten a takhli bowl and a lightweight hi-lo!

Thank you! *hugs*

Welcome! *happy hugs*

As one of your East Coast enablers, my advice is to just relax, give in to the feeling... It'll hurt less ;)

I'm impressed on spinning the cotton, btw. I still haven't done any cotton spinning, although I plan on trying it this year.

The cotton spinning seemed to be not too much harder than the wool; I just followed the instructions in the book Spin It by hooking a bit of the fiber onto the end of the takhli and starting to spin. Cotton isn't as easy to splice as wool, and it won't bear the weight of the spindle, so I definitely have a bunch to learn and the first foot of thread I produced is probably usable only in tapestry weaving due to lack of tensile strength, but it was a good start and easier than I'd been told it would be.

*hugs* The pain I'm worried about is in my pocketbook! :-p ;)

LOL It's really lovely, isn't it. I think I need to find some of the patterns....

Although another friend and I were talking about maybe making things like wall-hangings rather than sweaters. Or maybe lap blankets, or bread covers or...

Hmmm, I wouldn't know ANYTHING about putting more on my plate than I can ever eat. Nope, I sure wouldn't. *coughs while biting off more than I can chew*

But I sure get all these ambitions! Wouldn't it be grand if we could ever DO these things?
