Archiving Your LiveJournal
Jan. 6th, 2009 11:56 amThanks to
msmemory,
bunnyjadwiga, and
rufinia, found out that it might be a good idea to archive your LiveJournal journal this week (which I have now done).
Apparently the Russians who bought LJ fired a bunch of people today, who will be finishing their work week and then leaving. So, in preparation for a possible rough transition, it might be wise to archive your journal.
For Windows: LJarchive
You may also have to down load .NET Framework, but there is a link for doing that at the above link.
For MAC: Instructions for MAC

Once you've downloaded the software and archived your journal, you can then use LJarchive to get further posts. Open, go to Tools on the menu, and choose Sync (thanks
fitzw!)
[EDIT] Also, when LJarchive asks for your username and password for looking to download your journal, it's asking for your LJ username and password. That's probably obvious but just in case... I had to reboot my PC three or four times in the middle of working on this so I was getting a little discombobulated.

Date: 2009-01-06 07:02 pm (UTC)I don't actually expect LJ to go anywhere, but now, at least, I have it all backed up until my computer goes berserk!
