My mother is pro-Clinton, so I get to hear stories and reasons from her on why Clinton's good or Obama's bad. The only one I've managed to retain is from when she goes to read for an older couple (ages 98 and 101). They're from Germany originally, and fled the country in the 1930s to get away from Hitler and his rhetoric. They are terrified that Obama will win, because his rhetoric and campaign methods are so much like Hitler's (he even has a huge youth following). Lots of promises, no substance.

My mother has tried to reassure them that even if Obama wins, the U.S. government isn't the same as Germany's was.... of course, the U.S. government wasn't what it used to be either, not nearly as protective of its citizens as it used to be.

Then I have the pro-Obama people, and the anti-Clinton people. Yes, he has more experience than the Clinton campaign is giving him credit for. And for the people who think being first lady doesn't count for anything, it depends on the lady. She can't introduce or get bills passed directly, but several first ladies in history have gotten a lot done. To know for sure, one has to do actual research. Eleanore Roosevelt was never a senator, but she had a huge effect on this country. So did others. A general rant that being first lady doesn't count for anything is as meaningless as the Clinton campaign saying Obama doesn't have enough experience.

Anyway, if both campaigns believe so much that experience counts, they should all vote for McCain. He certainly has experience....

As for me, I don't care for any of them.

yep :-\

And now Al Sharpton is threatening a lawsuit over the primary voting in FL.

Oh goodie. THAT is sure to help matters...

Right... I thought I heard something about Florida yesterday, but I was trying to avoid the news for a day. Part of my stress-reduction program, y'know? Not hiding my head in the sand, but sometimes....

It has been interesting watching all of the rhetoric from this side of the border. Canadians are always interested in who is president because it affects our country and its' policies so very much, but have to say that I think this democrat selection of the democratic candidate has had many Canadians watching VERY closely. A lot of passion in those two....... and your fellow countrymen seem to be having quite a hard time choosing between them.... maybe Hilary was right the two should run as a team.....

As for John Mccain, he is pretty much off anyone's radar over here. Too low key and then there is the Bush connection..................

Oh, I'm definitely _not_ for McCain. In my post I was being a wee bit sarcastic, that the two Dem candidates should vote for him. Unfortunately, his greater experience may be the reason some folks will vote for him, not just being a Republican (of sorts).

Just once, I'd like to have someone really worth voting for. sigh. Although as one person put it, at least we don't seem to have Huckabee as a possibility anymore :P

McCain scares me for a reason that *no one* else brings up--he was a POW. I am the child of a Ex-POW. While my parents were still alive, I was active in the American Ex-POW organization. I have worked closely with men who were POWs in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. NONE of them are stable. Not One. It is *because* of his experience (besides the fact that he is a Republican) that I can't trust him.

Obama I only have a problem with because I can't see any follow through in his resume. If he had waited until after he had finished even one term as Senator, I would feel a lot better. I feel like he is going for the bigger cookie without fulfilling the duties and obligations of the one he already has.

Clinton has problems, yes. I won't deny that, but for me, her problems are a lot less, ummm, volatile? dangerous? than the others.

I will vote for whatever democrat gets the nomination, I would just feel better if it were Clinton.

On McCain -- that would explain the concern about his temper...

on Obama, there is some definite misinformation going on -- one person posted this supposed record of his having worked on various things (and vote record too), going back 8 years. Not as a U.S. senator, obviously...

Yup, my mom favors Clinton because she has some actual plans.

If the Dems want to beat the Republicans, having Clinton and Obama team up is their best bet.
