Very cool Roman Couch

Design is kind of like a cross between a coffee table and and a hotel luggage holder, plus armrest(s).

I enjoy reading about your activities ! I clicked on the link and the picture struck me as something similar to pieces Pheonix's grandmother used to have in her home ( but cover them in plastic so they will keep nice ) . She was Italian , and it struck me how sometimes preferences with our furnishings may be pulled by genetics. It just so reminded me of her !

Isn't it interesting how the basic form is still so present today? Only nowadays the form I see most often is the small bench that sits at the foot of the bed.

For some reason, it's quite a bit taller than I imagined. Kinda hard to lounge when you're afraid of going over like a Suzuki on a sharp curve.

I'm guessing that this is one of the single-person couches for reading and that kind of thing. Also, the Romans were more about my height ;)

A couch that was custom-made for you would probably be the same height (about chair height, from the look of it), but a bit wider and longer, for a proper fit.

The link I have to the triclinium in one of my previous posts shows how they can differ. It's set up as three "couches" around an open space, where the table would go, for dining. Although in the photo everything is made of stone, the stone platforms would have been covered with cushions/futon-like things to make it comfortable.

I suppose the plus-side for us these days, of a bed as high as the one in the above pic, is that you could store plenty of things underneath it.
