Birka, Health
Jan. 21st, 2008 08:11 pmWell, after much serious discussion, we decided tonight against going to Birka, whether as merchants or visitors.
I've been trying to keep on top of everything, and L has done what he can as well, but I'm essentially running myself into the ground right now and he's getting there too, trying to take care of me. The new PT exercises are apparently take more out of me than I expected, and L thinks my energy levels are lower than they were three weeks ago (when I was catnapping at EK 12th Night). I've also been fighting congestion and a sore throat -- mostly successfully I think, but between that and the shoulder I've been waking up a number of times per night and doing some healing energy work so I can get back to sleep.
The kicker was making the juggling critters -- we have stock, but more is better and I was short a few. It's taken 3 days for me to cut out 9 rats and 5 sheep and start sewing them. The rats' bodies are assembled but need turning, filling, and closing. The sheep are only partly assembled because I hurt myself turning the legs. They're very small, really not much of a challenge, except that they require good hand coordination and hand strength.
We're neither of us happy with the decision because we like to finish what we start. But if the merchant coordinator is to have a chance at finding replacements from the waitlist for us, better today than later in the week. And, I'll miss seeing my Northern friends too :(
I may not be able to finish another project I started in time for the end of the month either, and that bothers me as well. I started a picture in October/November thinking I'd have it done in plenty of time, but my focus just isn't what it should be. I've gotten quite a lot done over the past few months, but I'm really kind of all over the place now.
[EDIT: Let's finish this sentence, shall we?] Thank goodness L has been reading some of one of the 2nd degree books aloud to me so I don't fall too far behind in my reading... I will have to read other parts myself of course, but interestingly a lot of what he's read to me has sounded an awful lot like stuff we do or have to watch out for as SCA peers...[end]
So, time to cut back, hope I can get some things done that I want to do. Only two months into recovery, and haven't gotten to the strengthening stuff yet.... next week, if I work at it, but we'll see.
Truth is truth, but doesn't mean I always have to like it. Grr. Sigh... I'll probably be offline more this week, to try to regain some energy for the next set of exercises.
