Many scientific studies reports have been getting published recently, no doubt in part to make sure the latest information is available for the Climate Conference in Bali. Here's an article on the melting that's been occurring at the poles, from The Washington Post.

When a scientist describes the speed of the melt as 'overnight' it becomes the single most significant word in the entire article to me. I just wish people would realise just how serious this is, and just how imminent.

Yes, I've been following the various reports for some time now. And even before I started reading those, I've been getting the feeling that, at least in our area, we only have a couple of more years to move to where we want to be. In a few years mobility will be incredibly difficult, especially if you have limited funds. We are at least with family, in an area we have some familiarity with, and quite a ways above sea level as well. I view some of what we'll be doing over the next decade or so as preparations for the next folks to come, and the following generations.

Needless to say, this is not a popular view... but perhaps with the increased awareness we may be able to get some help with our various projects, as they fall more and more in line with what other people are doing. Meantime, we'll just keep on doing our thing, as quickly as we can.
