Oddities of Showing a House

helwen.... so, I didn't notice L's sword up in the attic, just inside the doorway, until last night.... nor my own Chinese sword just inside the door of my bedroom closet until this morning... hey, it was a handy place to put it when I was getting changed...
Cleaning up for an open house is an interesting experience. I don't personally recommend it, but it's interesting.
Some things just got cloths thrown over them -- a cluttered bookcase, and the desks. L didn't want anyone to be able to see the office setup - security concerns.
Oddly, in my attempts to make the place look neat and spacious but also somewhat decorated (curtains, a couple of flower arrangements), I completely forgot about packing away our jewelry boxes. Theft is a major concern at an open house -- not everyone is there to maybe buy your house. But since we and our realtor (LZ) were there, everyone was escorted.
All the viewers showed up in the first half hour and we took turns talking to various folks, answering questions, etc. We had five prospectives, which is very good. LZ said she's had open houses where no one showed up.
Also, we learned that it was good for the viewers that we were there, because since they all showed up so close together, she would have had to take them in one at a time (company rules viz security of homeowner belongings). Also, it was good for her -- there have been some murders of realtors on tour, usually female -- yes, in Massachusetts. We were shocked to hear that.
Our viewers were all focused parties however, and were all nice folks. And the house and the cats all did well too :)
