House Stuff - Update!
Aug. 30th, 2007 08:07 pmLadies E and P came over for a couple of hours this morning and helped out with finishing up the painting of the 1st/2nd floor stairway, upper hallway, and around the 1st floor built-in.
I did some mudding, spackling, painting in the 1st/2nd floor stairway, and also the 2nd/3rd floor stairway. Also went around painting nicks in the paint job on all the trim and baseboards in the house.
L did some plastering of some of the living room wall that needs repair, finished installing the floor tiles in the upstairs bathroom, and probably some other things that I can't remember.
The second house showing went pretty well. The realtor was representing herself and her family. The husband is another hobbyist fix-it guy and gardener -- both had lots of good questions and were friendly and personable people. Daughters seemed interested in the 3rd floor hideaway room, no surprise there.
We had a third showing today -- realtor representing a couple who live in CT. She's previewing houses in order to save them unnecessary driving. They were looking at another house just down the block and around the corner, but those people weren't willing to negotiate on the price (it was found that the roof would need $11,000 US in repairs). Seeing as our roof is only 11 years into a 30-year warranty, and I think our house is larger too... for the same asking price.... so, she'll be reporting to them and seeing about making another appt. for next week.
We're taking Friday - Monday off from showing the house. Need tomorrow to prepare for the weekend and do more work on the house. Saturday/Sunday is Harper's Retreat (sanity break!). Monday we take more stuff to the farm. Possibly in another rental truck -- I have to call UHaul in the a.m. and see if they're open on Labor Day or not.
