House happenings
Aug. 25th, 2007 08:30 amThe realtor is coming by this morning so we can sign papers and make everything official.
Last night I was taking things off the walls in the stairway and the upper hallway, so that I could fill in all the holes for the picture/object hangers. We have a Green Man (head) that I got from Design Toscano years ago, which was hanging on the wall at the top of the stairs. I'd put some nice bits of silk ivy nestled under his chin, and hung
fitzw's panpipes just under that. I took off the Green Man and the panpipes.... then discovered that I'd hotglued the ivy to the wall. LOL! Shows what I thought of the wall (extremely fake wood panelling). Fortunately it wasn't hard to remove, but it does make me wonder about some of the things I've done over the years...
fitzw is working on replacing the floor where the toilet is supposed to be, in the upper bathroom. Most of the new floor is in (the old boards were in bad shape, or completely missing). Today he'll be working on finishing the foundation, painting it, and then applying tiles.
Although right now he's working on some small touch-ups downstairs, and helped me out with mudding the stairway wall -- it's needed some work for years but wasn't a priority, so we hung a big piece of nice fabric over it and most people who saw it either thought it was a tapestry or wall treatment (even got a few compliments on the wall treatment over the years...). It really needs to be pulled down and replaced, to look really nice. But no time for that, so we're smoothing it out best we can and painting it.
So, today the Cat Clan will be coming over, around noon-ish or a bit after (the D-Man has to work this morning). They'll be helping with carpentry, painting, and so on.
Jeni dropped off some boxes yesterday :) They get stuff shipped to the hospital all the time, so she saved a bunch out for me. Yay!
She and
gwynt_y_storm _might_ be stopping by this afternoon to see what help we may need, but they have a bunch of stuff to do as well, so we'll see if they make it.
Many things to do, and it's great to have some help doing it!
