Weekend through Tuesday
Aug. 7th, 2007 10:13 amSaturday
Pennsic Pity Party was at Deth and his lady Michele's house. Small cheery group there. We hung out for the afternoon/early evening, then headed back home. Got in a little bit of work before and after the party.
Sunday we did a bit here in the morning, but the most part of the day we spent at the farm. We moved our first load of boxes, bins, and trunks into storage in the middle barn (after I raked most of the chaff out of that section).
fitzw did haying, trimming down overgrown area by the mail box (trying to give the young sugar maple there a chance, and Doris' lilacs), and other things. Some cribbage and rummy cube games were in there somewhere. Put the suet/seed blocks out for the birds.
Monday
L: more work painting, plastering, and putting up a bit of sheetrock in the upstairs bathroom.
Me: finished sorting out a rather bad job of warping/chaining, moved all the weaving stuff back out of the living room into the studiolo. More work in the garden. Packed several boxes with summer/fall/winter clothing - L packed one himself last night.
Both: Trimmed bushes in the front yard, and went to the composting center to drop off a pile of brush and stuff that L had put in the van. We took the giantTomato Tobacco Hornworm I found on one of the tomato plants there too, along with some tomato leaves/branches I'd been thinning out. I found the worm the usual way I find insects and snakes, with my face less than a foot away from it. Sigh. L had trouble seeing it even when I pointed out the area -- they're big, but perfectly colored.
My upper/middle back decided to freak out in the middle of the night. Very tight mid-traps, think something in the spine may be out of alignment. Causing some difficulty with breathing too. Yay. Ibuprofen helped a bit, plus L worked on me a little. Going to take more ibuprofen after breakfast, try to get the muscles to relax enough that I can get the spine more in line again.
Tuesday
Another trip to the composting center with the old leftover hay bales, then I can start boxing, bagging, moving some stuff from the studiolo into the minivan. We're going to make a midweek trip to the farm, in order to clear space in the house more quickly. I don't want to go through the house with a realtor until we've created some visual space and straightened a few things up.
I should do some dishwashing today as well. L will continue working on two of the rooms upstairs -- once the corner room is done, we can use it as one of our staging areas. But there's still a fair amount to be done -- spot primer on a couple of walls, prime rest of ceiling, final coat to walls and ceiling, and wash the floor.

back spasms
Date: 2007-08-09 12:08 am (UTC)Stand very tall, then slowly relax. Relax more, and slowly lean your head back. Try to only move one vertebra at a time. If it starts to 'pinch', roll back to vertical, take a few breaths, and start over.
If it's not a real injury, you'll eventually be able to hang backwards. If it pinches in the same place twice in a row, go see a doctor. If it hurts more than a pinch, go see a doctor.
I hang like this for a while, and sometimes I sway gently back and forth, to work out the last of the tension in my back muscles.
