Between the weather and my health (very much connected when asthma and humidity are both in the mix), painting the library has taken much longer than I'd like. Well, and when it's raining it isn't good to paint anyway -- at least this summer was a bit drier than last summer!

The constant bouts of humidity have meant that paint takes _much_ longer to cure. It can appear to be dry on the surface but if you lean something against it, the contact point becomes a moisture magnet or something, and the paint will come right off at that point.

But yesterday I didn't have to be anywhere else and it was sunny, so I got out there in the morning around 10:30 a.m., started painting by 10:55 a.m. -- usually I haven't been out there until the afternoon. Took breaks more or less every hour to get water or a bite to eat, and kept going until clean-up around 6:30 p.m. This is the color coat, so I'm also more particular about keeping the painting as continuous as possible, even though one can always feather the edges of the work area and come back to it later.

So, I painted the entirety of the gallery/narrower half, the west side of the center wall (wider half), the north wall, and around the door way on the west wall. Didn't quite have it in me to keep going and do the last bit -- plus with the rain that was expected the next day I wanted the paint to have as much drying time as possible. Next sunny weather is supposed to be Thursday afternoon.

Not sure if much trim will get painted this year, with the weather we've had, but with the main walls painted we'll be able to move forward on putting in the floors.

Also, ouch.
