*sigh* Trying Again
Jul. 25th, 2019 10:14 amMan, I post a few times and then I stop...
So, here I am again!
We ran crafts again at KFAW (Kung Fu Adventure Week) at the Shaolin Kung Fu Center of Hadley this year. Only three days instead of the five in the past -- different, but it worked out well.
Progress being made on the back half of the barn being turned into a library. Would be further along but we got to the mudding and then painting part, the humidity of June plus killer grass pollen came at the same time, and I got bronchitis. So, lots of time spent indoors with meds and A/C.
Yesterday I finally got out there again to do mudding (2nd coat). Nothing particularly square about that building, so I'm trying to do my best to accommodate the irregularities. The trick is making anything that shows as "off" as looking intentional. *shrug* We'll see how it goes, once the paint's on. One of my thoughts early on was to do some sort of painted border along the top of the wall, since that will be visible above the bookcases.
Starting primer coat today.

Had two art shows locally - one at Elmer's in June, one that's finishing up in Greenfield. Not impressed with that latter one -- no sales that I'm aware of. Still need to put together a binder with some of my art and try hitting some places to see if they'd like to put me on their gallery schedules -- likely won't be able to get in anywhere until next year, but at least I'll have something to do then.
This year, debating a web site. People keep asking if I have one, but I'm trying to decide if I want to deal with people stealing my work. I'll probably do it, but it hasn't been a priority.
I need to figure out the tension problem on the Juki sewing machine so I can finish an art quilt. Also want to get back to the tree illustrations... I managed to completely finish three of Ogham drawings finally, and have a fourth in-progress. Also want to do some more fantasy-type things.... I have some thoughts on that...

Enviro-wise, we're planting some trees this year, working on making the house-side of the river both a little more open (less brush) and a little more shaded. This will mean bringing in more ground cover plants so that it will stay more open, hopefully less inviting to ticks, and less mowing.
***
I'm writing some little articles for the local paper now, on stuff one can do that's more sustainable, better for the environment, etc. Some folks in town seem to enjoy them, yay.
This month will be a bit on wind breaks.

That's it for now!
