What I was going to post at 8:30 a.m., but we lost signal:
We emptied the two barrel in the front of the house and dug a couple more trenches. Light flooding in the basement. Hopefully the trenches will help with that, getting the water to flow away from the house. Emptied barrel at a corner of the barn. Will empty them hourly. 3-1/2 inches so far.
***
10:51 a.m. update:
Another 2-1/4" fell. Lyle dumped the barrels and then he and Ray went around inside the upper barn putting out buckets to catch water from leaks. River is up to the bottom of the covered bridge and nearly up to the sugarhouse.
Basement is no worse. Still coming in, but slowly.
Since we still have power I'm taking advantage of it to do some cleaning as we go. Am off to vacuum the living room rug since I haven't been able to do that for a few weeks and I want to spread out a large piece of fabric to work on.
***
Earlier this week I also sorted and boxed some books (2), fabric (3), and clothing (1). Would like to see if we can find more of the split flip-open bins, green tops and light brown sides (made from 100% recycled plastic). Found current bunch at Staples in Greenfield, but they're out of them now.
