Weekend and Monday

helwenBusy weekend! In SCA-land there was Crown Tourney up in Canada. Gryffyth and Aekaterine are the new Crown Prince and Princess of the East. Vivant! Vivant! Vivant!
Here on the farm, the annual fishing derby for the kids took place Saturday morning -- yes, in the rain. The new trout had been put in this past week and they don't stay around forever. Kids came and fished and overall had a good time, although the conditions were challenging. Most of the bigger fish were hiding under rocks/ledges of embankments because the water was stirred up so much by the weather. There will be folks coming by to fish over the next couple of weeks, of course.
The derby was followed lunch with family, then a few hours to do our own thing, then off to dinner in Granby with some friends there. Excellent food, even better company, and a fun time with a game called Rock Band.
We got home way late, only to discover that a huge storm had hit Ashfield and the surrounding area, and the power was out. 98% of Ashfield was affected, and large parts of other towns had their own damage and power outages. Turns out the tree that took out a main power line was just down the road, between the farm and town. We'd come home by a back road, so we didn't see it. Anyway, power was restored by early morning, so no worries.
Sunday was transfer point, lunch at Asian Buffet in G'fld, picking up some grass seed and some flowers for Ma for Mother's Day, and then of course all the usual farm stuff. Z called his grandma to wish her a happy mother's day, which was nice. I called my mom in the evening, to chat -- my brothers and niece had visited her the day before. Good chat :)
Somewhere in there was lots of moving boxes and furniture and stuff. Fiber arts room is getting emptier, in preparation for becoming a bathroom.
And now it's Monday! Still windy out, but beautiful and sunny. After I have my tea I'm planning on going up on the hill to the grove to cut a few more branches off the fallen trees there.
