The week so far...
Apr. 16th, 2010 12:01 amMonday - um... all I remember right now is we went to Kung Fu in the evening.
Tuesday - Rough start to day, but Fitzw worked on me a bit and I got stretched out enough to do stuff. Started my hillside project of cutting off at least 1-2 branches from trees that will be coming down. The pasture they're edging is getting too shaded and mossy and, well, un-pasture-like. Having the time, at least for now, I'm going for lighter daily trips, so I don't kill myself physically. No foo, knees/hips cranky. Actually cut down around a dozen branches.
Wednesday - Decent start to day, more of same stuff as Tuesday. Oh, and moved a few more things out of the fiber arts room (both days). Went with Fitzw and MIL to Gfld, was almost late to class. Knees behaved well enough, and could even do jumping jacks. Modified on push-ups. Fitzw was up for staying for his class, so I did some cleaning around the school and also more stretching.
Thursday - Pretty good day - not exactly what I planned, but stuff got done. Fitzw dug up the last of William's parsnips, we think while they're still sweet. The smallest ones I re-planted over with some little ones I left in the ground in one of our plots. Then there was weeding... oh and hops, strawberries, onions, and garlic are all coming up. Also a kale, which shouldn't have happened, in theory, because they're two-year plants and this one kale is now a three-year plant... Not sure if the jerusalem artichokes have made it or not - the experiments continue.
R cut down the black walnuts - the ones that were in the backyard, by the hay field. I potted two Hazelnut plants that arrived too early for going into the ground. Saved some daffodils that were by the walnuts and planted them elsewhere; we really need some white ones to go with all the yellow ones. Cut some branches on the hillside.
Friday - hopefully more of same, but there's another trip in to Greenfield in the afternoon. This time L and I will be more prepared, and will already be dressed for class so we can fly as soon as we get back from there.
Oddments of the week:
- earlier in the week, I found a golf ball up in the north pasture, across the street and up the hill from the golf course. With teeth marks. Probably the same squirrel(s) who cached a couple dozen of them in the double sugarhouse, which we found last year. Hopefully they've figured out that these are not exotic walnuts.
- a rock dove landed on one of the office windows and looked in at me this morning. Not sitting on the sill, but halfway up the window. Fitzw shooed it off, as we don't need it thinking this is a good thing to do.
Good Stuff, in no particular order:
- Sunshine and breezes
- Laundry drying on the line
- My Sweetie
- Kung Fu
- Walks to the hillside and back
