Seeking to tap into LJ friends' wisdom and knowledge please!

A friend has been cooking bacon and making sausage and now has a supply of pork fat that he's saved. He would like to know about soap-making and if there are any good soap tutorials online. Any and all help with this appreciated.

Thanks!

Soap making is not really complicated, and satisfying. I have to do some bacon fat soap at some point :)
Some of my notes are here and some here
I'll complete it at some point but there should be enough initial info.
There are also a bunch of online tutorials but I don't have them bookmarked :(

I've found these guys to be useful in explaining soap making.

I remember coming across a link that explains how to 'clean' bacon fat drippings so that the soap doesn't make you smell like bacon. Unfortunately, I can't figure out where I put the link.

Bacon grease soap recipe (with salt-removal instructions) here:

Bacon grease candle recipe here:

That blog also has a super recipe for soap made with lard or Crisco, and a super recipe for liquid soap. Just click on the soapmaking tag for lots of goodies...

And there are tons of good tutorials online. Unfortunately all of my links perished about three hard drives back because I haven't been in the tutorial stage for a while. However, Google and Youtube are useful adjuncts here. ;)

*g* Actually, you --- or possibly another commenter on one of your older posts, I can't quite remember --- referred me to that blog and I now follow it daily. It seriously rocks.

:D How circular! I was trying to get into serious soap-making, that's true. *sigh* Well, it may happen yet... and at least the references are here :D
