Soap Making Query
May. 25th, 2009 10:44 pmSeeking to tap into LJ friends' wisdom and knowledge please!
A friend has been cooking bacon and making sausage and now has a supply of pork fat that he's saved. He would like to know about soap-making and if there are any good soap tutorials online. Any and all help with this appreciated.
Thanks!

I'll complete it at some point but there should be enough initial info.
There are also a bunch of online tutorials but I don't have them bookmarked :(

Date: 2009-05-26 04:13 am (UTC)I remember coming across a link that explains how to 'clean' bacon fat drippings so that the soap doesn't make you smell like bacon. Unfortunately, I can't figure out where I put the link.

Bacon grease candle recipe here:

That blog also has a super recipe for soap made with lard or Crisco, and a super recipe for liquid soap. Just click on the soapmaking tag for lots of goodies...
And there are tons of good tutorials online. Unfortunately all of my links perished about three hard drives back because I haven't been in the tutorial stage for a while. However, Google and Youtube are useful adjuncts here. ;)
