Laurencia's barony court doc
Nov. 12th, 2006 11:24 pmFor those interested, here's Laurencia's court doc. Sig space below painting didn't make it into the scan, and apparently the glass distorted things a little bit (at least to my eye), because it looks slightly parallelogram-ish, when it reality it isn't. Other than that, not too bad. The dimensions of the 'pages' are very close to the original size, maybe 1-2% larger.

EDIT: Source. Master of Mary of Burgundy, Book of Hours for Engelbert of Nassau, the Bodleian Library, Oxford. Intro and Legends by J.J.G. Alexander. Publisher George Braziller/New York. ISBN 0-8076-0578-6 (slipcased edition). ISBN 0-8076-1332-0 (jacketed edition)
ADDITIONAL NOTE: The copy of the book I have isn't the best for figuring out how the shading on the cases is done, nor for the goldwork. There are some similar examples of this book online, but not of this exact page (so far as I can find). But the rest of the repro is decent quality. I'm amazed at the original artist's eye for detail -- for instance, the depiction of different types of glass that existed at that time, including whether the glass on the base goes up in a point or not (the 2 with flowers in them do, the one with the bulbs/tubers in base, does not).

(Slightly different interpretation, but the one you did yours from is my source of inspiration for this piece)
I love how you did yours. :) And I have been dying to find the book this is out of. Do you happen to have the name of the source, or an ISBN?
