Plan for the future
But live in the present day.
Forget not the past
It sometimes shows us the way.
True living is all times joined.

In search of the fabled permaculture chicken/greenhouse is a post from Rob Hopkins' blog.
Mr. Hopkins moved to Totnes (in the UK) sometime ago, got to know folks and they got to talking about living a more sustainable life. People were getting more concerned about how dependent they are on faraway places for their food, power, and more. Transition towns are one answer -- not that any of them are 100% independent, but they are much closer than most other places, and life has been getting better for folks in these places. What was one town is now many, including most recently Brixton, a borough of London. It continues to be a developing project, and it's both nice to know that even the experts need help from time to time, and that there are people who are willing to help.

Rosie Boycott in London announced the Capital Growth program this week. The plan is to create 2,012 gardens in London by 2012 (coinciding with the Olympics, btw). They're working on searching for spots to garden, be it unused plots, lots or rooftops, and people who want to raise a few of their own fruits and veggies. The program opened on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., and ninety people had signed up by 10:30 a.m.! She's quite happy as they'd only been hoping for 50 by April :D
