Planting, Walking
May. 20th, 2008 04:21 pmYesterday I raked out clods of grass, then William offered to re-till the new bed, after which tilling I raked more clods of grass out...
fitzw sowed oats Sunday and also helped hoe some rows for me. I planted seeds for lettuces, sorel, rutabaga, and a few cardoons.
Monday I managed to put in two types of parsnips and two types of carrots (1 row). Despite the raking and hoeing there are clods of grass down under the surface, and carrots need a lot of clear space down there. So, dug the row out, looking for more clods, then planted the row. 1-1/2 hours....
Today, it's a little windy but I should be able to put out the Kentucky green bean and the wax bean seeds.

We walked to town today. Much easier than last time, and faster too. Still not losing weight. Will have to work on that more conscientiously. But at least I'm getting in better shape in other ways. Still, there are days when ibuprofen is my friend... I'm very thankful that I don't need to dig deep again today, for the bean seeds!
Health has been kind of 'eh' of late... cut way back on sugar, added in cranberry juice (hard to get stuff that isn't full of cr*p, and has more cranberry than other juices), and also upped my fluids, which I fell behind on last week. Decided that part of the solution to my being tired was to exercise more -- which has led to being really exhausted some days, but overall feeling more fit. That's kind of a weird thing.... feeling healthier at the same time I'm fighting off a few problems.
Oh well. Off to plant seeds!
