Bees!, Staves, PT
May. 10th, 2007 03:31 pmLate yesterday afternoon,
fitzw was working on building the retaining wall at the bottom of the main garden beds, and I was sitting watching, taking a short break before we went off. I was also looking over the Granny Smith apple tree and its surrounds, and saw... a honey bee! So, the honey bees are joining the crowd of pollinators for the season. No doubt we'll see more of them as we go into June. Currently they are tasting the apples and the creeping charlie, and violets are also making their appearance, so soon
fitzw will have an interesting time mowing what lawn we still have.
Then we left for the farm, stopping at
gwynt_y_storm's briefly to pick up a couple of maple staves. They're octagonally-cut lengthwise, cut to appropriate lengths for our two rather different heights. I got some copper wire today and will play with wrapping it around the ends of my stave.
gwynt_y_storm has oak staves -- the maple are a touch heavier, but quite appropriate to maple syrup people :)
Went to 3rd PT session this morning. More capability and movement, but the arm still tires out pretty quickly. Today's exercises involved legs and torso, not just mid/upper back and arms. Working on strengthening/realignment of the hips and spine is helping out further up the line. Yay!
Back to work cleaning, gardening, etc.
