Is the air in the upstairs circulating? One of the risks of battening down is making a sick house, where the air is stagnant. Also, you are on your secondary water source? Might want to have it blind-tested, the filtration system might need to be updated.
I am glad M is home, that's quite frightening. I'm all the more relieved you are there to support and assist W. He's spry as anything, but he still needs backup.
